Classically Grungy

I can see the pattern I'm making - one blog per month. Oh well, I guess that's how busy I am with acads, social life, theater, family, and etc to manage and to balance. But even with those things to manage and to balance, dressing up classically fun will never change! Anyways, let's proceed to my blog:

Philippines has a bipolar weather; sunny for a while, then rainy for another while, then sunny then rainy and so on and so forth. It's very inconvenient! But as a proud Filipino, I should and need to cope up with it.

Do you know the feeling that it's rainy in the morning then you decided to wear a sweater or put some 2-3 layers of clothes on, then a few hours later it became sunny (or vise versa)?!!?! Ugh. I hate that feeling. I hate those moments! But living in the Philippines, you need to cope up with that. I experience those several times, and sometimes you just need to "tiis ganda" (a term Filipinos use meaning to endure the weather or difficulties to look good). (Photo Above: My signature pose! Haha)

One thing that I learned from those experiences of mine of tiis ganda is that grungy look is very much well suited for this kind of weather! A shirt plus button downs plus chinos or jeans plus shoes, that's all that you're going to need!

If it's rainy, you can wear the button downs on with a simple t-shirt. That's 2 layers already! You will not get cold, well comparing on a person wearing just 1 layer. But what if it started to become sunny and hot? You can just tie you button down to your waist! Either look will still look good! Oh how convenient grungy look is!! Do you agree? YOU SHOULD!

Now for the details of my look, I'm wearing a swallows printed shirt from Stray by Roger Davids! It's a pastel yellow so it's good for a sunny/rainy weather! The button down I'm wearing is a Denim Button Down Shirt from Hang Ten! Convenience at it's finest!

For my pants, I'm wearing a pastel blue chinos from Stray by Roger Davids. It's a pastel color so it looks good on any weather! And for my shoes, a Jack London Canvas Boat Shoes, which by the way has a pastel color to hold this ensemble!

I just put some accessories on! All in my arms are from Factorie except the watch. The watch is a Vintage Casio Watch (ohhhh vintage!). Then around my neck is a triangular prism shaped necklace. It's also from Factorie! Triangular shaped accessories are so in right now, so you better grab one now!

Now, to finish this blog post, is an awkward picture of me. I have an awkward smile, I don't know why :(( Anyway, for a day with an unpredictable weather, a grungy outfit will surely guide and ensure you a fashionable day - either a sunny day or a rainy day! Stay classically fun!

Prints + Plain

It's been a while since I posted a blog, so let's get it on!

One of the hardest questions in life is "What should I wear today?" I often ask that question to myself, since in our university (DLSU represent!) we don't have a uniform. It's like going to the mall every single day. I like not wearing uniform, but sometimes it's so hard to think what to wear - really! If sometimes I don't know what to wear, I just put my "lazy outfit" on!

Everyone should have a safe or a lazy outfit because there are times that you don't know what to wear anymore! So, here's some tips on how to have a lazy outfit. Presenting my lazy outfit (!!) :

WOOO! You can wear a shirt, a t-shirt, or a polo shirt, whatever that is very comfortable to wear yet stylish, like this ethnic button down shirt from A - Z Clothing. Isn't it wonderful? It's so comfortable to wear, yet so trendy! You can wear whatever kind of shirt, plain or printed.

Matching my green ethnic button down is a plain blue shorts! Shorts can never be out of style, that I can assure you. If you don't know what to wear, you can just pair everything up with shorts! You can do a plain top plus a plain shorts, a plain top plus printed shorts, a printed top plus printed shorts, or just like my outfit - printed top plus plain shorts. It's an easy way to look fashionable!

Shoes will complete the "lazy outfit" look! Like my shirt and shorts, I decided to have a prints and plain combination on my shoes and socks. Just to add to the ethnic vibes of my button down, I wore an ethnic printed socks! Socks are so trendy! Then, I paired my socks with my blue (yes, blue. I have a thing for blue.) sneakers. It's a trend nowadays to match sneakers with preppy outfits - well, based on what I usually see. Also, I wore sneakers since it's very comfortable to wear. You can play, run, jump, walk, whatever using sneakers. It's an easy way out if you don't know what to wear!

Now, for the accessories, details, et cetera, or whatever you call it. I decided to strap a brown leather watch to contrast and complement with my outfit. Then, I decided to put a little party on my other arm.  I didn't wear that much accessories since this is a lazy outfit after all. But always remember, accessories will give an extra "umpf" in you look.

Of course, when a person goes to somewhere or to school, he/she needs a bag. Complementing my lazy plain and ethnic printed look is my ethnic printed bowling bag! It's a big bag but it's very easy to carry. I can store many food, clothes, books, school supplies, or whatever in it! It's a very convenient bag, I swear. Functionality and aesthetically at its fullest!

That's my "lazy outfit" - a shirt + shorts + socks + shoes + bag + accessories. It's an easy way to pull-off, right! It's a fun look yet classy. When you're lazy to think what you should wear, just keep calm and take that lazy outfit of yours! So what's you "lazy outfit"?

Smart-Casual Look

Hello there guys! Everyday, someone we know celebrates their birthday or you'll be just going to a parteeeeeeeeeh! But what if you weren't informed about the party or celebration until the day of the event? What would you do? No, the most important thing to ask yourself is what would you WEAR?! Okay now, don't panic! You don't need to wear something new or extravagant or an attention seeking outfit, 'cause first of all, it's not your birthday or what. Second, you're in a rush so you better think fast! Okay, just look in your closet and find something that is appropriate to a celebration or party. One outfit you might adore is the smart-casual look. So how do you pull it off? Here's how:

#1: Find a long sleeves button down shirt! A long sleeves button down shirt is a must to have that smart-casual look. It may be a simple long sleeves button down or a printed one like this checkered long sleeves button down with elbow patch by A to Z. Got it?

#2: Your pants! You can wear any pants, actually, except for sweatpants 'cause you know that's not smart-casual. You can wear chinos or denim pants. Smart-casual look isn't that hard to pull-off, you know? ;)

#3: To have that great transition between your top and pants, you need a belt! You can use a black or brown belt or any belt that you have as long as it matches your smart-casual look. Okay? Don't use too casual belts, alright?

#4: This is optional. You can wear some glasses to really have that "smart" looking look ;)

#5: Shoes are an investment! For the shoes, you can wear brogues, bluchers/derby shoes, moccasins, boat shoes or a top-sider to wrap up your smart-casual look!

#6: Wear some funky socks so that you won't look so formal. Pick some socks that have some prints on it. Socks are such nice things to have ha ha ;)

#7: You may or may not have a bag, but if you want to bring a bag then go ahead! But a friendly reminder, don't use JanSport bags or any bags that is too casual (BTW, I don't hate JanSport. JanSport fits with other outfits, not this one ha ha). You can use satchels or rucksacks as your bag! It will pump up your vibes/outfit!

#8: Accessories! Accessories can add some "umpf" factor to your style!

#9: WATCH!!!!! You can never pull a smart-casual look without a watch. It's a vital piece in a smart-casual look. You can use leather band watches or the metallic ones.

#10: THE LAST STEP. Be confident and have fun!! ;)

Now, you're smart-casually ready to go to a party or a celebration!! Have fun! Stay Classically Fun! ;)

First Day High (College Edition)

As they say, in every end, there is a new beginning. As our summer break ends (insert tears of sorrow), comes a new school year ahead of us! I don't know if I should be happy that there will be classes again, or should be bummed. Oh well... Anyway, one thing that I looked forward to in having classes again is showing my personal style to my schoolmates! My style shows a part of who I am, and that's why I am very excited to show it to other people. Showing my style to them is like showing who I truly am. So my tip to you my fellow human being is to show your own personal style ;)

I have too much photos of myself, but what they hey this is my blog ha ha ;)

Top: Polka Dot Button-Down from Stray, Roger David
 Watch: Billabong
Accessories: Factorie
 Boots: Dr. Martens Boots
Backpack/Satchel: 101 New York

My look for the first day of my sophomore life in DLSU is sort of urban lumberjack-ish. I chose to wear this outfit since it's very fun yet classy. It's not too formal and it's not too casual. The top is to die for! It's pastel color makes so appealing to the eye. I matched that pastel blue polka dot button down of mine to a Topman Khaki Chinos to make each other stand out yet compliment each other. Now for the shoes, it's a khaki green-ish canvas boots from Doc Martens. It goes very well with that chinos, isn't it? ;) Now, I just throw some accessories up and grabbed that chic backpack/satchel! It's another thing to die for!! It looks small but you can put many things inside it, I swear!

So that's it. That's my outfit for my first day high (college edition). That's how I expressed myself for the first day! So how will you express yourself in your first day?
